The oldest of the fluoroplastic family, first marketed under the DuPont trade name Teflon.
It is made by polymerizing tetrafluoroethylene, C2F4, and is characterized by its extreme inertness to chemicals, very high thermal stability, low coefficient of friction, and ability to resist adhesion to almost any material. Used for production of PTFE/glass laminates.
